Northcliffe - our community
Southern Forests, Western Australia
Creativity, community and connection.
Northcliffe CRC is actively developing a YouTube channel featuring interviews with locals, amongst other things.
NCRCtubeNorthcliffe CRC is open Monday to Friday, 10am-5pm. To access other Northcliffe services including the Visitor Centre check out our directory of services, or our business listings.
ServicesNorthcliffe's Community Resource Centre has an awesome Bean Bag cinema, a popcorn machine, and no tickets or bookings are required so you can come and enjoy a film on a whim. We run our film events in collaboration with Southern Forest Arts and sometimes with the Shire of Manjimup.
Our cinema theme for 2024 was 'Heartland - A Year of Australian Film'. We screened Yokai, The Rabbit Proof Fence, The Song Keepers, Happy Feet, Mad Max, and, our final film for 2024, Tracks. We would like to thank our CRC volunteer Patti who helped us program and organise this unique and educational year and others who provided input.
We also want to thank anyone who came along to our films. With so many people owning giant televisions these days, the whole point of an old school cinema experience is to enjoy the company and the sense of community. And the popcorn. In that order. Our most popular films for 2024, so far, were Happy Feet, Mad Max and Yokai.
The Australian film theme has been successful enough that we're considering extending the Australian focus into 2025, although we are pursuing other ideas too. The film program might look something like: Ten Canoes(M), Mad Max 2(M), Samson and Delilah (MA15+), Genocide in the Wildflower State (M), Happy Feet 2 (G) (games and dress up theme), Incident at Raven's Gate (R) (dress up as an alien theme). All other ideas are welcome. We can't always obtain a screening license for our preferred films, so we'll be announcing the final program later in 2025. In the mean time if you have any opinions, preferences or film choices, come and talk to Graham at Northcliffe CRC.
Celebrating our town's Centenary!
The Easter weekend of 2024 was a special time for Northcliffe. Thanks for helping us celebrate 100 years since the founding of the town. Northcliffe Community Resource Centre are now working on a documentary with footage of weekend highlights and interviews with some of the original settlers and we plan to launch this on the Easter weekend in 2025, one year after our celebrations. The oldest person we interviewed will turn 100 later in 2024! Watch this space for details about our documentary, or in the mean time you can see the full length interviews we conducted, as well as festival highlights, on our Youtube channel here.
